We visited my folks in Hull in September, and as usual took a day trip on Saturday to show Richard more of Yorkshire. This time we visited somewhere that I don’t think I’d been to since a school trip when I was 10 or 11 or so – Dalby Forest. It’s a pretty impressive place, although not as rugged as I remember from my childhood. The most impressive thing was the tea served by Mrs Davison at Jingleby Thorn – where in the South could you get 4 mugs of tea, 2 slices of fruit loaf, one scone and jam and one scone with cream and jam for £6! Bargain!

It Brighton Comedy Festival
It’s Brighton Comedy Festival time again, and today we’ve been to the only event we’ve planned for this year – Paul Merton’s Impro Chums. We went to this event last year as well, and it was still excellent, with some marvellous suggestions from the audience. Quite sad to see Jim Sweeney in a wheelchair now, last year he was still using walking sticks to get about.
Whilst we were in
Whilst we were in Cornwall, we had the good fortune to discover Bangors Organic Tea Room and Restaurant. Not only does it do lovely lunches, and cream teas, but it also has a couple of rooms available for bed and organic breakfast. We might just consider this next time we’re down there.

We re just back
We’re just back from a lovely week in Cornwall. We rented a lovely cottage near Bude.

Highlights of the trip were a day spent at the Eden Project, fish and chips from Rick Stein’s in Padstow (best fish and chips ever) and the Porthcurno Telegraph Museum.
I haven’t sorted out the photographs yet, but I’m sure there’ll be some soon…
It is great to
It is great to see so many great add on products for the iPod Shuffle – I’m quite taken with these PodGear Pocket Party Shuffle Speakers. Admittedly I don’t need any as we’ve still got some more normal portable speakers that work admirably well. Needing is different to wanting though 🙂

The fixtures are out
The fixtures are out for the Brighton Bears and it looks like there are quite a few in the Brighton Centre this year.
So Hull have got
So, Hull have got off to an okay start in the Championship, shame about losing to Wolves on Saturday though – and of course it had to be Wolves, Richard’s Dad’s team :-(. I’m glad I only had a couple of quid riding on it!
EUjet have gone into
EUjet have gone into administration today. Shame, the two flights we’ve had have been great – on time and comfortable.
We had pretty calm
”
We had a pretty calm and relaxing weekend. Friday evening involved a few pints and some great food (as always) at The Dorset. And on Saturday we headed off to the impressive Sand Sculpture Festival followed by a couple of cocktails at the elegant Black & White Cocktail Bar at Hotel Seattle. Lovely!
